2012 is going to be a busy year for consultancy companies within the defence and security sector. Their priority will be to continue the battle against Cyber Crime.

As an answer to recent (various organization hacked by the Anonymous Group) and not so recent (Stuxnet attack against an Iranian nuclear reactor) Cyber attacks, the British Government announced last year that they will allocate £650 million of funding to set up a National Cyber Security Programme. Government Agencies will also take a central role to organise the ongoing battle and work closely with commercial organisations.

This busy market has opened up many opportunity’s for jobseekers with strong technical knowledge. The most sought after candidates have strong development experience with C++ in an embedded and/or real-time context in either Linux or Windows environment; also having strong experience in developing multi-threaded applications.

GCHQ to offer British firms expertise in cybercrime

Following on from other articles published by Jenrick IT, specialists in SC and DV IT job opportunities, regarding the increasing role cyber-crime will play within the technology sector, we have just seen this gchq-job-opportunities-for-sc-dv-professionalsarticle on The Guardian confirming that GCHQ will be offering assistance to British companies to help them combat cyber-crime:

Some of the secret technologies created at the government’s eavesdropping centre GCHQ are to be offered to private industry as part of cyber security strategy unveiled by ministers on Friday.

The plans could lead to the government being paid substantial sums for software developed by the intelligence agency at Cheltenham. Ministers argue GCHQ’s main priority will remain national security and the agency has insisted it will not be side-tracked.

However, the new cyber strategy makes clear that better co-operation is needed between the public and private sectors to face the dangers posed by espionage and crime on the web. (more…)
