IT job growth continues – confirmed by latest REC research

Jenrick IT is pleased to report that demand for permanent IT staff continues uk-job-market-2to grow healthily despite a slowdown in the wider jobs market, the REC’s monthly Report on Jobs has revealed.

On an index where a score above 50 denotes growth, demand for permanent IT staff was measured at 57.2 in October, the highest of any sector.

In addition, demand for IT contractors was measured at 52.1.

Responding to the research, REC Technology Chair Jeff Brooks said:

“It is striking that demand for qualified IT professionals remains healthy. It has long been clear that the jobs of the future will be in technical, highly-skilled areas such as IT.”

Thank you to Jane Stevens, UK Service Delivery Manager  at Jenrick IT for writing this article in response to the initial article on EBT jane-colSchemes last month.

There have been many schemes set up over the years including EBT (Employment Benefit Trusts) Schemes in order to take advantage of loopholes in the law where trusts or other vehicles are used to reward employees (contractors) which seek to avoid or defer the payment of income tax or National Insurance Contributions.

Jobs boom in IT for next 5 years

on-the-increaseWe get the latest from IT Contractor.com on how IT Job availability is set to boom for the next 5 years.

Jobs Market

According to a new report by V3.co.uk, the number of IT jobs will rise by 5.1% a year over the next 5 years.

That works out at a compound interest rise of about 28.4% in that time.

As there are around a million people working in IT in the UK that works out to be an extra 284,000 jobs in IT in the next 5 years.

How can you avoid the new 50% tax rate - feedback from the experts

April is only around the corner and with it comes the 50% higher tax rate. Accountants are reporting a booming business in clients contacting them to ask advice on how to avoid this increased tax rate.

IT revival is leading to a growth in demand for contractors

Jenrick IT (specialist IT recruiter) has noticed a surge in demand for IT Contractors in January 2010. In addition there is growth for permanent IT employees also, with clients re-igniting projects.

Philip Fanthom (Managing Director – Jenrick IT) commented:
