IT job growth continues – confirmed by latest REC research

Jenrick IT is pleased to report that demand for permanent IT staff continues uk-job-market-2to grow healthily despite a slowdown in the wider jobs market, the REC’s monthly Report on Jobs has revealed.

On an index where a score above 50 denotes growth, demand for permanent IT staff was measured at 57.2 in October, the highest of any sector.

In addition, demand for IT contractors was measured at 52.1.

Responding to the research, REC Technology Chair Jeff Brooks said:

“It is striking that demand for qualified IT professionals remains healthy. It has long been clear that the jobs of the future will be in technical, highly-skilled areas such as IT.”

Growth spotted in the IT jobs market

As a market for IT recruitment, the UK is showing the first tentative signs of growth in the long-term, in spite of a reduction in the current number of contract roles.

Second quarter research from the IT Job Board reveals that, despite the bright spots to come, the supply of work for all IT workers is at least half of the size it was last year. (more…)
