IT Contractor News (job market update)

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

In contrary to the report of IT contract demand ‘dwindling’, Jenrick has london-fastnoticed a sharp increase in demand from the Finance sector, with Q1 contract bookings from the finance sector being at their highest for over 18 months. Other areas of significant growth included; online marketing & transactional business, general media, IT security, and more surprisingly the defence sector.

The supply of experienced developers in this field has contracted due to the fact that candidates originally based in the C/C++ arena, have ported their skillset across to what they see in the market as the more saleable C# / .Net skills. However, certainly in the foreseeable future, there will always be a small but definite trickle of C++ requirements for the specialist within this field.

Web based development within the .Net space continues to hold strong and we see this rolling well into next year in the same vein.

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Demand for professional contractors has continued to increase, together with the numbers of contractors who seem to be preferring the Limited Company course of contracting.

Philip Fanthom (Managing Director, Jenrick IT) commented:
“we have not seen this level of contract activity since 2007. Demand has been increasing month on month since October last year. In addition, we have noticed a sharp increase in rates for some skills, in particular; developers with C++, C#, and Java” (more…)
