Tories to review IR35

Mark Prisk (Shadow Business Minister) has made a promise that the Conservatives would review IR35. However, as with all pre-election vows, the exact detail and timing of this review is filed as TBA.

Conservatives to reform IR35

Mark Prisk, the Conservative Shadow Business Minister, has announced that a Conservative Government would undertake a full review of small business taxation, including IR35.  The aim will be to provide a simpler and clearer tax regime.  (more…)

A row over National Insurance rises has escalated after business leaders said claims they had been “deceived” into backing Tory plans were “patronising”. Chancellor Alistair Darling accused the Tories of “peddling a deception” after 23 top bosses backed proposals to curb National Insurance increases. (more…)

There was yet more political pre-election ‘courting’ from the Work and Pensions Secretary as she called on every employer to offer flexible working for parents – a sure vote winner?

Every employer should champion flexible working – Cooper

The Government this week called on employers to promote flexible working, as it published its response to the Family Friendly Taskforce report.

Building on the taskforce‟s recommendations, Ministers will promote flexible working across the public sector. Work and Pensions Secretary Yvette Cooper also announced that Government will appoint a taskforce of business leaders and business organisations to champion the case for flexible working in the private sector.
