IT Job Market News - Contracting set to increase in 2009

Not surprisingly, the faltering economy is impacting negatively on the jobs market with reports everyday of organisations all over the UK looking at their ‘head count’. However, our findings at Jenrick CPI are showing that not all sectors are be affected in the same way.

Proposed government spending announced earlier this week may provide contractors with some respite in the coming 12 months, if they can adapt to the different challenges posed by the public sector.

For more details on this sector, particularly Defence, please contact our Government Recruitment Specialist Miriam Lee (miriam.lee@jenrickcpi.co.uk), or go to our Goverment IT Job Blog Article, written last year.

In addition to Government spend, indications are that 2009 will see a growth in all sectors utilising the services of interim workers / contractors - as also highlighted by our sister company Jenrick Engineering is their recent Interim Engineering Staffing Solutions website article.

Jenrick CPI are assisting many of our clients who have business critical IT projects already well under way and need to progress to project completion, by supplying contract resource with specific IT expertise.

Companies we work with have found the use of IT contractors to be a very cost effective way of delivering projects, both internally and to clients.

Jenrick CPI has also been working with a number clients looking at the possibility of retaining the services of professional IT contractors to maintain their existing systems, with some of these arrangements being made on a ‘pay as you go’ basis. This allows for a regular income to the contractor, but also allows the freedom to work with multiple organisations as the time constraints are different than project work.
