PHP developer jobs London - New Media weathers the storm as demand for digital agency solutions show no signs of slowing

The PHP Developer jobs market within the New Media Industry is reporting a large increase in the demand in and around the Greater London Area, according to Jenrick CPI, the specialist IT recruitment consultancy.

Matt Hancock, (New Media Consultant) at Jenrick CPI commented:

“Although the credit crunch seems to be hitting most of our clients in some shape or form we are still seeing a great deal of urgency in brands wanting to remain both innovative and competitive with regards to their online presence.

Whilst we’ve seen quite a large fall in investment in traditional forms of advertising such as Television and Newspaper our clients focusing on Digital and Online media solutions are thriving. Online brand awareness and interaction is still paramount and the launch of new websites and portals to enhance customer engagement and interaction is still considered extremely important through these troubled times.

We’ve had multiple requirements from both the permanent and contract side and are looking for a variety of skillsets such as PHP Developers, Flash Developers, Sharepoint Developers, Web Project Managers, Java Developers, Webmasters as well as more generalist Web Designers and Web Developers.”

Matt Simpson, head of digital at OMD and chairman of IPA digital media, believes that the industry will continue to prosper:

“Despite internet growth being more modest than in recent quarters, marketers are still seeing the opportunity for the internet to drive their business.”

Why New Media?

Interactive Web Sites enable Companies to engage their customer base in ways never before thought possible through the use of Web 2.0 technologies such has Java, Flash, AJAX, Flex, XML, RSS and SOAP.

Customers these days have an extremely high expectation of how they want their favourite brand websites to look and ‘feel’ and the pressure on them to deliver is great.

Matt Hancock explained further:

“Advertising doesn’t build a Brand, Brand Interaction and Customer Engagement does. Digital Media is the greatest enabler in this regard and we’re finding that that organisations leveraging Web2.0 technology to the fullest are the ones gaining the competitive advantage in today’s market. These tend to be the organisations with the right Digital Agencies on their side.

We are consistently looking to source good candidates with strong new media agency or web backgrounds. Ideal candidates usually come from the traditional / digital agency side or from media companies on the client side such as SKY or the BBC.

Demand continues to grow for IT professionals with a background in New Media and Web Development, most of this is driven not only by tangible increases in online brand awareness and ROI, but also in an underlying feeling that there’s still much left to exploit Web 2.0.”
